STORM

a global music video project to bring us together - while we are apart

in support of first responders

The Idea:

Wanting to help our first responders in this time of need, award winning directors Rocky Romano and Miranda Winters were inspired by the recording artist Kiesza’s song Storm after hearing it on her Instagram account. That inspiration led to the creation of a global music video project in collaboration with recording artists, architects, filmmakers, designers, engineers, street artists, and over one hundred cinematographers across the planet.

Collectively, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, this collection of like minded artists created a powerful short film showcasing Kiesza’s powerful song Storm to help first responders. The film, produced by Winters Rock Entertainment, will serve as a call to action - encouraging people to donate to Frontline Care, a non-profit dedicated to providing rest and care units for first responders in the fight against COVID-19, via their donation site TeamStorm.org.

The Execution:

After the decision was made to move forward with the project the production team at Winters Rock dedicated over 150 hours of research to locate aerial cinematographers across the globe that had captured the footage of the pandemic. The result was over 100 filmmakers donating footage from 27 countries and 14 U.S. cities, including Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Iraq, Macedonia, Mexico, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Along with the individual pilots, the team partnered with Pond5, the world’s largest royalty-free stock video marketplace, who donated footage while fully compensating the contributing artists for content used in the final production. The recording artist Kiesza was able to record a remote performance of her song Storm on the shores of Toronto, Canada. She worked remotely with musician/producer Chris Malinchak to complete the final version of the song, and reached out to her friend Cameron Sinclair about involving his non-profit Front Line Care. With the charity in place, the completed song, the footage from across the globe, and the Winters Rock drone pilots footage, the team was able to create a visually stunning and powerful short film.

IMPACT STRATEGY:

The impact strategy for STORM leverages powerful visual storytelling to honor and support frontline responders amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The global collaboration brought together donated footage from 100 filmmakers across 27 countries, providing an intimate and impactful portrayal of the shared experiences during lockdown and highlighting the extraordinary courage and dedication of healthcare professionals.

Through targeted outreach and community engagement, the video effectively increased public awareness and inspired donations to Frontline Care. This initiative advocates for and provides critical relief to medical workers facing the pandemic's challenges daily. Contributions raised via teamstorm.org directly enhance the support for these frontline heroes, underscoring the film's practical and humanitarian impact.
