IMPACT STRATEGY:

The impact strategy for “Gangsta Gardener” focuses on using the powerful narrative and mission of Ron Finley to address food insecurity and inspire community-driven sustainability. By screening at high-profile venues such as the prestigious Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, the film has significantly elevated awareness of critical issues like food deserts, climate justice, and community empowerment.

The screening was in collaboration with the "Breath(e): Toward Climate and Social Justice" exhibit, part of Getty’s PST ART initiative, and the film helped amplify conversations around environmental and social justice, challenging societal norms and advocating for systemic change. Featuring a special conversation between Ron Finley and exhibit co-curator Glenn Kaino, the screening facilitated meaningful dialogue and encouraged community action toward creating sustainable and equitable local food systems.

Through these strategic screenings and engagements, “Gangsta Gardener” actively contributes to public education, inspires individual and community action, and promotes transformative discussions about equity, environmental responsibility, and community resilience.
